Former playing honours (if any): All Ireland Senior Gaeltacht Senior Championship 1969, and Meath Junior B in 1966

 

Occupation: Retired Agriculural Adviser

 

What is on your iPod/CD player? Christy Hennessy’s Greatest Hits, the Sawdoctors

 

What is the best club game you have ever played in/been at, and why? Junior County Final 1996: Moville’s arrival on the big stage. First year/first time, champions, putting the neighbours to the swords

 

What is your party piece? Not a party animal, but when pushed, a tune on the tin whistle

 

Who is the person in GAA you admire the most, and why? Micheal Ó Muireartaigh, the greatest GAA living legend

 

What is your earliest GAA memory? Huge men of all ages playing Gaelic football on a private estate field in Dunlewey where posts were erected during the previos night.

 

What is your favourite TV Show/Movie? ‘The Jungle Book’ and Spotlight

 

Who would you invite to a dinner party at your home? Ref. Marty Duffywith Mary and Antoinette for company, also Skelly (looking a bit skinny lately!)

 

When I was younger I wanted to be…? ‘Space Traveller’ Beamed down in inishowen in 1968, still waiting for Scotty!

 

What is your favourite ground to play at? Haven’t played a lot lately but definitely Croker in the next life.

 

Who is the worst trainer? Brigid Harkin, over in the field 7 days a week and still hasn’t done enough to be included in Skelly’s panel (…just kidding Brigid!)

 

Who is your sporting hero (any sport) and why? Oisín McConville for club and county – the greatest!

 

What would you change about the game currently? Rescind the black card decision and train refereees in the application of the rules

 

Who would you draft into the Moville Senior Mens/Ladies teams if there was a transfer window? Cora Staunton to put some manners into Liam! (she’s bigger!) and Hugh Hegarty to confuse the opposition with love and kisses.

 

What is the most difficult game/opponent/team you have ever encountered as a player or spectator? Given  the task of marking Patsy Devlin, Tyrone (not Urris) in 1970

 

Who has been your biggest influence? Francie Mooney and Club Ghaoth Dobhair where your club shirt was your passport for life.

 

If you were not involved in the GAA, what would you be doing instead? Without a life, somewhere unimaginable.

 

Do you have any pre-match rituals or superstitions? I wear my socks inside out.

 

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given? “Get your retaliation in first”

 

Name a player within the club as ‘one to watch’ for the next 12 months: David Duffy, a great prospect for club and county. Tara Hegarty to continue the family tradition.
